Spirit Dominate Park Gilbert with Historic Performance

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's volleyball team put together a record-setting performance on Thursday night, sweeping Park Gilbert in commanding fashion. Behind an efficient offense and dominant play at the net, the Spirit broke into the program record books in multiple categories — including team hitting percentage, total kills, assists, and blocks — showcasing one of their most complete matches of the season.

  • Set 1 (25-14): The Spirit opened the match in dominant fashion, setting the tone early with powerful serves and an efficient attack. Kaiden Raif and Lauren Wamsley each delivered an ace, keeping the Buccaneers on their heels from the start. Gloria Moye led the charge at the net with five kills, while Jessica Pearce and Bella Reach each added three kills, as OUAZ controlled the pace and rolled through the opening set.

  • Set 2 (25-21): The second set proved to be more competitive as Park Gilbert pushed back, but the Spirit maintained their composure and steady play to stay in control. Reach fueled the offense with five kills and added an ace, while Wamsley continued her strong performance with four kills and an ace of her own. OUAZ's balance on both ends of the court helped them pull away late to take a commanding two-set lead.

  • Set 3 (25-9): The Spirit left no doubt in the final set, delivering one of their most dominant performances of the season. Wamsley set the tone from the service line with two aces and powered the attack with five kills, while Amey Rainaud added another ace to keep the pressure on the Buccaneers. Jenna Sarff contributed four kills, helping OUAZ control every rally as the Spirit closed out the sweep in commanding fashion.

Lauren Wamsley led the way for the Spirit with an outstanding performance, recording 11 kills and hitting .556 — the seventh-highest individual hitting percentage in OUAZ history. Her efficiency and power at the net fueled a record-breaking night for the team, as the Spirit posted a .406 hitting percentage, the third-best team mark in program history. OUAZ also tallied 50 total kills (tied for third-most all-time), 47 assists (third-most), and an impressive nine team blocks, which ranks second in school history. The dominant showing showcased the Spirit's balance, chemistry, and control on both sides of the net in a statement win.
