GLENDALE, Ariz. – Spirit come up short in a tightly contested GSAC match up on Saturday, falling 1-3 to Arizona Christian despite a strong defensive effort.
The match opened as a back and forth battle, with both sides limiting opportunities and trading goals in the first half. OUAZ's lone goal came in the 40th minute when Alvaro Hormigos converted a penalty kick. The Spirit's back line remained composed under pressure, while the attack generated several promising looks that narrowly missed the mark.
In the second half, the Firestorm capitalized on a pair of chances to pull ahead. OUAZ continued to press late in search of an equalizer but couldn't convert as the match concluded in defeat. Despite the result, the Spirit showcased composure, determination, and toughness in a gritty conference battle.
