RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The OUAZ Spirit earned a big road win on Saturday, defeating La Sierra 4–2. The victory improves the Spirit's record to 7–10–0 overall and 5–7–0 in GSAC play.
The first half was a defensive battle, with neither team finding the back of the net before halftime. The Golden Eagles broke the deadlock in the 50th minute when Gia Aldama scored the first goal of the match. La Sierra doubled its lead in the 63rd minute on a strike from Samantha Torres, assisted by Leslie Lopez.
From there, it was all OUAZ. Desiree Dutra sparked the comeback with a goal in the 64th minute, then quickly followed with another in the 67th. Dutra completed the hat trick—the eighth in OUAZ program history—with her third goal in the 82nd minute. Cora Cox added an insurance goal in the 90th minute to seal the 4–2 comeback victory for the Spirit.
The Spirit will close out the regular season on Thursday, October 30, when they host The Master's at 4 p.m. MST.
