Box Score MESA, Ariz. – The OUAZ women's soccer team earned a 4-2 victory over Benedictine Mesa on Tuesday, with late goals from Rachel Greksa and Kylie Walker sealing the win.
The Spirit opened the match with energy, breaking through in the 15th minute when Maria Juarez scored off an assist from Elizabeth Hanson. The Redhawks answered quickly, equalizing in the 21st minute to keep the match tight. OUAZ regained the lead just before halftime when JoJo Smith found the net in the 42nd minute, finishing off a setup from Faith Rana to make it 2-1 heading into the break.
Benedictine Mesa continued to battle, pulling level once again in the 68th minute. But the Spirit delivered the decisive response late in the second half. In the 81st minute, Rachel Greksa broke the tie with a clutch goal assisted by Desiree Dutra, and just one minute later Kylie Walker added another to push the lead to 4-2. The Spirit's strong closing effort secured the victory and showcased their ability to finish matches with intensity and precision.
