Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Jas Singh

Spirit Drop Gritty Game to Life Pacific

Surprise, Ariz.- The OUAZ Spirit Men's Basketball team entered their conference homestand on the other side of another tough loss to Life Pacific (9-3, 3-1) 85 to 69. The Spirit competed against a tough Warrior team that has only dropped 3 games all year and has played significantly intense all season. The Spirit now fall 4 games under .500 at (7-11) and remain winless in conference play.

Millenium HS grad Reggie Orr continues to stay hot as he led all Spirit scorers with 18 points. Orr had arguably his best game of the season shooting a perfect (8-8) from the field and got it done defensively dropping an impressive 4 steals with a block. The transfer continues to quietly have one great performance after another. Junior Quinn Thorne also had quite the stat line with 14 points, 2 of those from behind the arc. He also created several opportunities for his teammates with tied team high 4 assists. Zeke Viuhkola added a steady 12 points and a team high 5 rebounds. Gelo Gil stepped up big tonight as well with 8 points and 4 assists. The Mission Bay HS product built upon his flashes of great passing we saw last year.

The Spirit struggled from the field in the first half shooting only 35% from the field and couldn't knock down the 3 as well only converting 3 on 12 shots. However, in the second half we saw a completely different Spirit offense as they exploded on offense shooting 60% from the field and adding on three 3's. The Warriors, although the second half surge from the Spirit remained hot from the field shooting 70% while also out rebounding the Spirit 37 to 25. The Warriors also got the Spirit in foul trouble heading to the free throw line for 27 shots converting 20 of them.

Your OUAZ Spirit return to the floor on Saturday, January 18th to continue their homestand against Hope International University Royals at 2:00pm in Faith Arena. The Spirit will continue on their quest to clinch a conference victory in the opening month of conference play.
