Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Spirit Lose to Mustangs in Scorching Conference Matchup

SURPRISE, ARIZ. – The OUAZ men's soccer team returned home for its second game in three days, looking to pick up its first conference win of the season. The Spirit overcame a goal with 28 seconds remaining in the first half to tie the game, but ultimately were on the wrong side of a 3-1 final on Friday.

Coming out of the halftime break, the Spirit looked to equalize the contest immediately. After being stopped on a penalty kick exactly 60 seconds into the second half, Jamaine Turner would break through and score in the 51' to tie the contest.

The two teams would continue to battle, but The Master's used a pair of goals less than 12 minutes apart to get the match's deciding advantage. The Spirit did have a handful of chances as time began to dwindle, and ultimately finished with 10 shots in the second half.

Jonathan Garcia made eight saves for the Spirit, the most in a game so far this season. The Phoenix native has made at least two saves in seven of his eight starts this year.

OUAZ will hit the road for its first trip to California of the year when they take on Life Pacific next Thursday, October 3rd.
