Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Spirit Score Four Late in First Conference Win

AZUSA, CALIF. – The OUAZ men's soccer team earned its first GSAC win on Thursday night, picking up a 5-0 decision over Life Pacific. The Spirit took a one-goal lead into halftime, then scored four goals in the final 12 minutes to pull away for a road victory.

Ron Naftali did not wait long to score, as he picked up another tally in the fourth minute on an assist from Jesus Castillo. Life Pacific would hold the shot advantage into the halftime break, but the Spirit would turn up the pressure in the back half of the game.

In the 79th minute, Jesus Castillo would get his second assist of the game when Jamaine Turner would score his fifth goal in his last six games. Over seven minutes later, Ingram Kusaloka would make it a 3-0 Spirit lead.

Less than a minute later, Aleem Barclay would convert on a penalty kick for his first goal of the season. Zen Courtois would wrap up the scoring in the 89th minute thanks to a great feed from Kusaloka.

Jonathan Garcia earned yet another clean sheet, his sixth of the year. Garcia made all three of his saves in the first half to help the Spirit preserve its one-goal lead when the game was at its tightest.

The Spirit will wrap up its road trip on Saturday when they take Hope International. Kickoff from Biola University in La Miranda, Calif. is set for 12:30 p.m.
