SURPRISE, ARIZ. – The 22nd-ranked OUAZ women's soccer team started its new-look GSAC schedule on Tuesday evening, hosting new conference member Park Gilbert. The Spirit would score once each half, and would control the game late to take away a 2-0 victory.

The two teams played even in the first half, but OUAZ would be the team to enter halftime with a lead. Lexy Rowe would score her first goal of the season after a great feed from Harlee Kuntz, and the Spirit would take the 1-0 advantage in the 29th minute.

After continuing its push throughout the second half, the Spirit would be rewarded with another goal in the 84th minute. Karissa Frerichs would convert a perfect Mindy Lertzman corner kick with a great corner kick, and OUAZ would close out the final seven minutes to preserve its third shutout victory of 2024.

Chloe Avila would pick up her second clean sheet of the season, making three saves to kep the Bucs at bay. The Spirit would have double the shots on target of its opponents, and OUAZ would have a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks, including five coming the second half.
