MONMOUTH, ORE. – The 18th-ranked OUAZ women's soccer team finished up its road trip in the Pacific Northwest Friday, taking on NCAA D2 Western Oregon. The Spirit were on the wrong end of a 3-0 final, but performed better than what the final score indicated.
"Great matchup today," head coach Brett Bentley said. "We learned tough lessons today in ball security, but that is why we took this game against a quality opponent. We knew Western Oregon would be tough, and knew our athleticism that usually carries us in tough moments would not be the case today."
The Spirit were able to get three shots off, as Lexy Rowe, Harlee Kuntz and Maleah Vasquez all had attempts. Chloe Avila made a pair of saves in her second start of the season.
OUAZ will return home for a Labor Day matchup against College of Idaho. Kickoff from Spirit Field is set for 9 a.m.
