SURPRISE, ARIZ. – The #25 OUAZ baseball team returned to Surprise Stadium on Friday, starting an important conference series against Arizona Christian. The game stayed close all night, and the Spirit had its opportunities, but were on the wrong side of a 4-0 final.
The big hit for ACU came in the third inning, when Marques Titialli hit a two-run home run in to break the scoreless deadlock. The Firestorm would add a run in the fourth and a run in the sixth.
Trey Trimble had a solid start, going eight inning for OUAZ on Friday. Trimble struck out seven ACU hitters, and did not allow a walk.
Logan Meyer and Owen Prendergast were patient at the plate, each drawing a pair of walks. Joey Winters and Daniel Durazo each had a hit for the Spirit.
OUAZ still has the opportunity to win the series, as they host ACU in a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch from Surprise Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
