IRVINE, CALIF. – The OUAZ softball team had already won three games against #14 Hope International entering Tuesday, needing yet another victory over the Royals to stay alive in the GSAC Tournament. The two teams played close all game long, but a second-inning run for HIU was enough to eliminate the Spirit in a 1-0 final.
The Royals tallied half of its hits, and the game's only run, in the second inning. The Spirit did have runners on first and second in both the third and fifth innings, but were unable to bring a runner around to touch home.
Alyvia Hernandez turned in a great start, going six innings and allowing just six baserunners in the contest. Hernandez was efficient as well, needing just 80 pitches and not allowing a walk.
