COSTA MESA, CALIF. – The OUAZ softball team started its final weekend of the regular season on Friday afternoon, matching up with #25 Vanguard for a doubleheader. The Spirit had troubles getting the offense going, and fell in both games to start the road trip.

The Spirit battled to start the day, but could only muster two hits. Lauren Russell and Brooklynne Esquibel each had a hit, and Elysa Moreno drew a walk.

The Spirit got the scoring going in this contest, and Lauren Russell blasted a home to left field in the second inning. Vanguard took the lead in the fourth inning, then added insurance runs in the fifth to get to the final score.
Russell had two hits in the contest, adding a double to lead off the seventh inning. The Spirit threatened early in the frame, as Savannah Sutton singled after the Russell double.
OUAZ will wrap up the regular season with a doubleheader against #14 Hope International on Saturday. First pitch from Fullerton is set for Noon.
