BUCKEYE, ARIZ. – The OUAZ women's golf team played well in its own tournament, finishing second and having an individual champion. Taylor Wilczek was the co-champion of the OUAZ Showdown at Sundance, and four Spirit players finished inside the top ten.
Darkness fell quickly at Sundance, and the teams only completed nine holes in the final round to finish the tournament. Wilczek was able to grab the co-championship with a great final round, going +1 to jump up three spots.
Mikayla Sgrillo finished tied for sixth, playing a consistent 27 holes. Emily Larson finished ninth, putting up a +3 in the final round to climb three spots in the individual leaderboard.
Jessie Sporle also made a big move in the final round, going +2 and finishing tied for 10th. Maddie Shoults and Jenney Kim Song used good second rounds to improve their leaderboard positioning, as they both finished tied for 12th. Chiara Israng, who was competing as an individual, rounded out the top 15.
The Spirit will return to the course in April when they head to the Dalton State Tournament. The first day of the Roadrunner Women's Invitational is set for Monday, April 8.
