COLUMBUS, GA. – The OUAZ men's swim program had its most successful trip to the NAIA National Championships ever, as two amazing athletes represented the Spirit in multiple events. The biggest highlight was Reuben Dobson, who finished as the national runner-up in the 200-yard Butterfly.
Dobson shaved nearly five seconds off his time between his preliminary time and final time. His time of 1:48.43 was less than two seconds behind the winner, Steven Aimable of St. Thomas.
The 200 Fly was not the only even Dobson participated in during the national championships. He raced in the 500-yard Freestyle (4:47.37; 30th) and the 100-yard Butterfly (50.15; 16th), making the finals in the 100-yard Fly.
Jonathan Cowin represented OUAZ as well, swimming in three separate events. Cowin was in the final of the 100-yard Backstroke, where he finished 11th with a time of 50.49 seconds. Cowin also raced in the 200-yard Individual Medley (1:55.85; 26th) and the 100 Fly (50.63; 23rd).
