In a game that had the weather more conducive of Oregon than it did of Arizona, the OUAZ Spirit lost both ends of a doubleheader to the top-ranked Oregon Tech Owls, 8-0 (six innings) and 2-0.
Â
The Spirit (4-4) struggled at the plate against one of the NAIA's best pitching staffs.
Â
In game one, outfielder
Mia Casadei led the troops with a pair of hits in three at bats. Infielder
Emily Henard captured the only other hit, with infielder
Savannah Sutton being the only remaining baserunner for the Spirit.
Â
Game two was more of the same, with Henard getting a pair of hits and catcher
Kelli Samorano recording the lone remaining hit on the ledger.
Â
These were only the third and fourth times that the two schools had met on the softball diamond. Oregon Tech now leads the series 3-1.
Â
OUAZ is scheduled to play at Benedictine Mesa on Saturday. That remains questionable as BenU's field was not playable as of Thursday night, according to Head Coach
Ernesto Ortiz. Stay abreast of any last-minute changes by following OUAZ athletics on X, formerly known as Twitter at
