Surprise, ARIZ. – OUAZ Men's basketball boosts their winning streak to three after the Spirit won the defensive battle against Justice College, 78-74 in their home opener. The win puts the Spirit at 4-2 on the season.
The Spirit had a solid defensive showing, forcing the Lions to shoot 45% from the field, and only 28.6% from the three-point line, while the Spirit struggled offensively as they shot 38.5% from the field and 19% from three. OUAZ's continues to do well with points in the paint as they outscored Justice 38-34. The Spirit also continued to boost their points off of turnovers by adding another 28 points tonight.
Four Spirit players finished with double-digit points, led by Zeke Viuhkola (20pts, 7 rebounds, one block, and one steal). Hunter Richardson added to the winning effort (16pts, 6 rebounds, and one block). OUAZ also got key contributions from Quinn Thorne, who had 12pts, one steal, and four assists on the day.
OUAZ will get some time off before they head on the road to Salt Lake City, Utah where they will play Westminster on Friday, November 15th, at 11am MST. Â
