Surprise, Ariz. – OUAZ Men's Basketball at one point had a double-digit lead, but ultimately fell 79-75 to Nelson Arizona (4-2). The loss puts the Spirit at 4-4 to start the season.
The Spirit forced 16 turnovers, and scored 15pts off of those turnovers, but the Warriors still had a solid day shooting as they shot 48.4% from the field, and 38.1% from three. The Spirit however did not shoot as well with a 42.2% shooting percentage from the field and 29.2% from three. The biggest issue for the Spirit came at the Free Throw line where they shot 56% on 25 attempts.
Three Spirit players finished with double-digit points, led by Jack Galiardi's double-double (20pts, 13 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks, and 3 assists). Zeke Viuhkola added to the effort with (17pts, 4 assists, and 1 steal). OUAZ also got contributions from CJ Reed, who had a line of (15pts, 1 steal, 4 assists, and 7 rebounds), with Reggie Orr adding (7pts, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist) on the day.
The Spirit will take a little break with the upcoming Thanksgiving Weekend, and will return to Faith Arena on Thursday, December 5th against Westcliff (1-1) at 6 PM MST.
