Thousand Oaks, Calif. – OUAZ Women's basketball came up just short in their road trip finale, losing to Cal Lutheran 64-62. The loss puts the Spirit at 6-2 on the season. While they ended their road trip 1-2 against the three SCIAC opponents, the Spirit had strong showings in each game as they all ended with a point differential of two points or less.
The Spirit had a solid defensive showing, forcing the Regals to shoot 28.6% from the field, and only 24.1% from the three-point line, while the Spirit struggled offensively as they shot 32.9% from the field and 5.3% from three. OUAZ's did do well with points in the paint as they outscored Justice 38-26. The Spirit also won the bench points battle as they outscored the Regals 26-22.
Two Spirit players finished with double-digit points, led by Angel Addleman (14pts, 9 rebounds, and two assists). Charli Cook added to the effort with (11pts and 4 rebounds). OUAZ also got contributions from Tiana Sledge, who had (8pts, two steals, and four rebounds), with Makayla Holthaus adding (7pts, 6 rebounds, and 4 blocks) on the day.
OUAZ will return to faith Arena where they will play Nelson Arizona on Tuesday, November 19th, at 5:30 PM MST. Â This will be the last game for the Spirit in the month of November, as they will not play again until Tuesday, December 3rd when they host Nelson Arizona once again at 5:30 PM MST.
