Box Score Surprise, ARIZ.- It was a tough day for the Spirit in their final home game of the season as they fell to #16Â Embry Riddle (11-2-3 Overall, 10-1-1 Conference) 4-1. The loss puts the Spirit at 6-7-3 on the year and 4-6-2 in conference play.Â
Embry-Riddle would strike first in the 22nd minute of play with a goal by Jamie Brandon (Eighth of the Season), assisted by Rae Yoshioka. The Eagles would another a goal about 30 seconds later (22nd minute) by Ella Carnahan (Third on the Season), unassisted. The Spirit would have eight total shots, with seven of them being on goal, but they could not get one in as they closed the half down 2-0.
Embry-Riddle started the second half scoring with a goal by Kaitlyn Roskopf (Third of the Season) in the 55th minute, assisted by Ellie Neal. The Eagles would get another goal in the 74th minute off a free kick by Rae Yoshioka (Ninth on the Season), unassisted. The Spirit would get on the board in the 81st minute of action with a goal by JoJo Smith (Third Goal of the Season), assisted by Miranda Pena. The Spirit's late rally would come up short, with a final score of 4-1 in the loss to the Eagles.

OUAZ will go into next week fighting with Arizona Christian for the fourth and final spot in the GSAC Tournament, starting with a Halloween game (Thursday, October 31st, 5:30pm Start Time) on the road against longtime rival Arizona Christian (6-7-2 OVR, 4-5-2 GSAC* Playing Match vs The Master's Later Today) that will likely decide who gets in and who is staying home. The Spirit will finish the regular season on the road against Benedictine Mesa (3-10-1 OVR, 1-9-1 GSAC* Playing Match vs Hope International Later Today) on Saturday, November 2nd at 5pm. OUAZ will likely need to win both games to secure a spot in the GSAC Tournament.
