OUAZ starters shot nearly 55 percent from the field but came up short as the Spirit fell to the Oaks 85-83 on Saturday afternoon in Atherton, California.
Â
Four of the five starters scored at least 11 points in the loss for the Spirit (10-5, 0-2 GSAC).
Â
"Our league opponents present so many challenges," head coach
Matt Keeley said after the game. "It gets real obvious real quick as to why it's the best league in the country. Neither game ended with the result we flew up here for, but I learned from this trip that we have some toughness and togetherness."
Â
This is the first time since the 2019-20 season that OUAZ has started GSAC play 0-2. They would go on to finish that season tied for seventh in the conference.
Â
Jayce Catchings would lead the Spirit with 20 points and eight rebounds.Â
Jacob Henry would score 19 points, dish out five assists, grab three rebounds, and steal the ball twice in an all-around performance.
