Fresh off a 10-day layoff, the 22nd-ranked OUAZ women's soccer team opened Golden State Athletic Conference play with a 2-1 win at Menlo College. The win is the fourth straight for the Spirit and their eighth in nine outings.Â
OUAZ (8-1, 1-0 GSAC) showed no rust from time off as junior
Gianna Green scored her first goal of the season (assisted by junior
Amanda Witkowski) in just the 3rd minute of play. The Spirit found the back of the goal again in the 20th minute when freshman
Grace Green registered her third goal of the season on a well-crafted play that included Witkowski and senior
Rowan Kerley.
Â
Menlo (1-4, 0-1 GSAC) scored it's only goal in the 35th minute, and despite a fierce battle for control, the Spirit held firm for win.
 Â
Notes:
OUAZ is now 5-0-2 all-time against Menlo College. Menlo leaves the conference next season to move to NCAA Division II.
NEXT UP - The Spirit plays at Jessup on Saturday at 10:30 am.
