PERFECT ROAD TRIP WRAPS WITH ANOTHER SHUTOUT

A perfect road trip to Southern California for OUAZ wrapped up with a 6-0 shut out of Providence Christian College on Monday, August 28th.

The Spirit (4-0) evenly split the six goals between the two halves as Chloe Avila (1-0) turned in the clean sheet and her first collegiate win.

Lexy Rowe (4, 2 on the day), Jocelyn Smith (2, 2 on the day), Eryn Warren (1) and Heather Walker (1) all scored in the match.  Rowe who was nominated for GSAC player of the week due to her spark plug actions last week, did it again today.  Less than four minutes into the match, she scored the eventual game-winner.  This marks three straight matches where she has scored or assisted on goals within five minutes of entering the match.

Twenty minutes later, Jocelyn Smith scored the first of her two goals on the day off an assist by Harlee Kuntz.  Kuntz would end the day with three assists.  Smith liked scoring a goal so much, that she did it again about five minutes later, again off a Kuntz pass.  That is how the first half ended, 3-0 OUAZ.

Warren would open the scoring in the second half with a goal in the 53rd minute.  That goal would conclude a volley of shots by the Spirit.  On the day, the team would have 26 shots total with 17 on target.  All of those shots would also induce 10 corner kicks for the Orange and White.

Rowe would score her second goal of the match late in the 65th minute while Walker's goal would come about four minutes later.  Walker scored off of a Karissa Frerichs assist to cap the scoring.

The Spirit will be back in action on Labor Day Monday morning when they host Marian University Knights from Indianapolis, Indiana.  First touch will be at 8:00 a.m. and will be the front end of a doubleheader with the men's team.  Tickets can be bought through the Hometown Tickets App or by clicking here.
