Emery Outin and Quaid King Receive All-American Honors

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The NAIA announced their 2023 Men's Volleyball All-America teams on Tuesday, and two Spirit members were honored. Junior Emery Outin received his second All-American honor of the year while senior Quaid King received the first of his career.

For the first time in his career, Outin has been named to the NAIA All-America Men's Volleyball team after receiving an honorable mention spot in 2022. 

This year Outin has been honored as a part of the nine man All-America Second Team. Leading the team in both points (300), kills and total attacks (548), and finishing in the top five in total assist (43), service aces (13), total digs (101) and total blocks (33), the junior has been a force for the Spirit. His performance put him fifth in the conference in kills and points, topping all other OUAZ members. The France native reached double digit kills on 14 occasions and 16 double digit point performances including a career high of 26 kills to end the season. Outin lead the Spirit to just their second NAIA Tournament in program history and helped them to a single win against Webber. In the tournament Outin made 38 kills, including 26 against Park (Mo.) giving him the most of the game, and recorded 14 digs and 40 points.

In his first All-American honor of his career, Quaid King has been named an All-American Honorable Mention. 

After four seasons with the Spirit, King finished his career strong leading in multiple defensive and offensive areas. Second only to Outin in kills, King was an offensive leader in 2023 made 368 attempts at the attack giving him a .329 attacking percentage alongside making nine single-game double digit kills. On Defense the senior was just as effective with the fourth most digs (89) and fifth most blocks (27) on the Spirit. In the postseason, King tallied 18 kills, racking in a .800 attacking percentage against Webber Intl., assisting the Spirit through their two pool play matches.

On the All American accolades…

Emery had the best year of his career so far and proved why he is an all-American at nationals carrying a big offensive load for us.  He was u believable all year and can't wait to see how he backs it up next year.  Quaid has had a great 4 year career for us and couldn't be more proud of a fellow okie to earn such a high honor.
