Surprise, Arizona - OUAZ baseball (11-13-1) dropped both games in their doubleheader Saturday afternoon against San Diego Christian. It was a back-and-forth battle in the first game, but the Spirit fell short 6-5. Game two got out of hand quickly, and OUAZ fell 13-2.
GAME ONE
Tyler Bare threw a solid 4.2 innings, while striking out four and allowing no runs. He would not factor into the decision.
Nathan Tarver and Nicholas Lustig once again had multi-hit games in game one. Tarver logged two singles, one run, and a walk. Lustig tacked on three hits of his own, one run, and one RBI.
Jacob Griffin hit a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning to take a 5-4 Spirit lead, but the Hawks would go on to walk it off the following inning.
GAME TWO
Sergio Alfaro was the lone bright spot for OUAZ in the finale of this series, recording three hits including a two-RBI double in the second inning.
OUAZ has dropped four straight since putting up 20 runs on Dickinson State last week. They will be back in action on Tuesday, in Mesa when they take on Benedictine Mesa at 5 pm pst.
