Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Spirit Get Big Win Against Oaks

Atherton, Calif.  - The OUAZ men's basketball team captured an important road victory on Thursday night beating Menlo College 85-67 in Atherton. The win improves the Spirit to 18-7 overall, 10-6 in GSAC play and 6-1 in their last seven road games. More importantly, OUAZ keeps its solid stance among the top teams in the league who are battling for a good seed in the GSAC post-season tournament. After action on Thursday, the Spirit are third just percentage points behind The Master's for second. Only six teams will make the tournament.

Against the Oaks, senior Keshawn Bruner led all Spirit scorers with 25 points, but it was a strong second half (16 points) that allowed OUAZ to extend its lead. With the Spirit up by seven (46-39), Bruner scored six straight points to give OUAZ an 11 point edge with 15 minutes to go. The lead would grow to 20 with 5:37 left but time ran out on any possible last minute charge by Menlo.

On the night the Spirit shot 54% from the floor, had just seven turnovers and scored 44 points in the paint. Other Spirit players in double-figures were McKay Bundy (18 points on 7-of-9 shooting) Josiah De'laCerda (13) and Kolten Hitt (10).

OUAZ plays another critical conference road game on Saturday against Jessup University (@3pm MST). Jessup is just one game behind the Spirit in the league standings.
