Saint Paul, Minn. - The OUAZ women's water polo team got back on the winning track with impressive victories over Carthage College, 18-2, and Macalster College, 12-4 on Sunday. Now 9-7 on the season, the Spirit have won six of their last eight.

In the opening game, the Spirit jumped out 7-0 in the first period and was never threatened. OUAZ sophomore Kendall Patrick was the top scorer of the contest with four goals, while senior Kylee Crofcheck added three.

Later in the day, Patrick added another four goals (three in the third) in leading the Spirit to the win over host school Macalester. OUAZ scored the first four goals of the contest and led 5-2 at the midway point. The Spirit increased their lead to 10-3 thanks to the strong third period of Patrick and goals by junior Rachel Hughes and grad-student Kelly Rowan.  Fourth period goals by senior Janel Sepulveda and sophomore Jenna Rasmussen by the contest away for good. For the tournament, Patrick recorded 12 goals.

OUAZ will be in action again next weekend (Feb. 24-25) at the Tina Finali Tournament in Thousand Oaks, California. The Spirit will play Cal Lutheran (12:45 pm) and Azusa Pacific (4:30 pm) on Friday, and Occidental College (3:15 pm) and Cal State Fullerton (5:45 pm) on Saturday.
