Box Score The OUAZ women's soccer team scored two in regulation but then scored on all five attempts in the penalty kicks to take the 2023 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Second Round, presented by Select Sport America against Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Saturday.

The win moves the Spirit into the Round of 16 where they will face the #3 seed University of the Cumberlands out of Williamsburg, Kentucky. All of the remaining matches for the tournament will be played in Foley, Alabama. The Round of 16 will be on Tuesday, Nov. 28th at 3:00 (Arizona time).
Alyce Hancock scored her first goal of the season in the 14th minute of the match to give the Spirit (14-3-2) the early lead.

In the second half,
Haley Chitwood scored her second goal of the season to give what seemed like a comfortable lead with 22 minutes to go.

Embry-Riddle (13-4-3) scored twice in the final five minutes of regulation to push the match to overtime.

With neither team scoring in overtime, the match moved to penalty kicks.

OUAZ scored on all five of their chances.Â

Akela Patterson making the stop on the Eagle's second attempt.

Notes:
- ERAU still leads the all-time series 3-2, but OUAZ has won the last two in the series, both in Prescott.
- OUAZ and the University of the Cumberlands have never faced on the pitch, ever (Men or Women).
- This is the first time the squad has been in the NAIA National tournament.
