The OUAZ women's golf team came from behind to win the Vanguard Fall Invite at the Oak Valley Golf Club on Wednesday afternoon. It was the Spirit's second team win of the Fall season.
 
Entering the final round in third place and seven shots behind tournament leader Northwest Nazarene (a NCAA Division II program), the Spirit edged out Embry Riddle (AZ) by one stroke and Northwest Nazarene by three.
 
Individually, OUAZ freshman Taylor Wilczek, who started the final round tied for third, fired the best round of the tournament (+1 73) to capture tournament medalist honors by four strokes. It was her first collegiate victory.
 
Rounding out the Spirit squad were Maddi Shoults (T5th), Mikayla Sgrillo (17th), Chiara Israng (22nd) and Avery Van Horn (38th).
 
The team will now have a few weeks off to prepare for the Firestorm Fall Invite being held at the Verrado Golf Club in Buckeye on November 6th and 7th.
