Spirit Fall Twice at GoSarpy.com Labor Day Classic

BELLEVUE, Neb. – The final day of the GoSarpy.com Labor Day Classic resulted in a pair of losses for the 24th-ranked OUAZ women's volleyball team. OUAZ started the morning with a 3-0 loss to No. 14 Montana Tech before falling to Cornerstone in four sets to end the trip.

OUAZ returns from Nebraska with a 4-4 overall record, with conference play coming next week.

Montana Tech used 13 blocks to force the Spirit into 25 hitting errors and a .042 attack percentage. The Spirit finished with 29 kills and a 42-33 edge in digs to hang around, but the compiling of errors proved to be too much to overcome.

Livia De Pra had a team-leading 11 kills, with Shea Marovich adding six. Logan Kuehn recorded 19 assists and four service aces.

Cornerstone took advantage of the Spirit in the serving game with 11 aces while totaling a 56-44 edge in kills. OUAZ hit .213 for the match – including .417 in the third set – compared to the .250 of the Golden Eagles.

Payton Treadwell and De Pra finished with 11 kills each to lead the Spirit. Kenzie Kuxhaus notched 20 digs to give her three straight matches with 20-plus.

OUAZ hits the road next weekend to open GSAC play. The trip starts on Friday at Life Pacific in San Dimas, Calif.
