Cross Country Completed the George Kyte Classic to Begin Season

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The OUAZ cross country teams opened the 2022 season on Saturday at the George Kyte Classic hosted by Northern Arizona University. The men completed a 4.5-mile course while the women covered 2.5 miles at Buffalo Park.

Abigail Theis led the way for the Spirit women with a time of 19 minutes, 25.8 seconds. That was an average of 7:47 per mile and placed her 37th in the division.

Allison Maethner finished 44th in the collegiate debut with a time of 20:42.6. Taylor Stilli went 25:55.2 to place 55th.

Michael Kulek was the top finisher in the men's race for OUAZ. He completed the course in 30:280 to finish 78th. Juan Bolanos placed 82nd in 31:14.2.

OUAZ returns north next weekend to compete in the Embry-Riddle Invitational on Saturday.
