Game Recap: Men's Water Polo |

Water Polo Drops Two on First Day of Rare Air Invitational

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – On the first day of action at the Rare Air Invitational, the OUAZ men's water polo team suffered a pair close of losses. OUAZ began the weekend with a 15-14 loss to Augustana (Ill.) and then was defeated by the event's host, Air Force, 17-14.

OUAZ is now 3-7 on the season.

Against Augustana, the Spirit held an 11-10 lead heading into the fourth quarter and had a 14-13 lead with 3:14 remaining before the Vikings scored twice in the closing minutes to earn the win. The Spirit held a 31-26 edge in shots in defeat.

Johnathan Wong scored five times on 10 shots to lead the Spirit in each category. Arnaud Parmentier added three goals.

In the second game, Air Forced jumped out to a 5-2 lead after the opening quarter and never looked back. OUAZ would get as close as 9-7 early in the third quarter, but the Falcons countered every Spirit goal with one of their own the rest of the game.

The 14 OUAZ goals came from seven different players scoring two goals apiece. Zackery Whiddon tallied 12 saves.

OUAZ will play another two games in Colorado on Sunday as they face Biola and LIU.
