Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Streaks End with 1-0 Home Loss

SURPRISE, Ariz. – After moving its game to this morning because of weather on Friday night, the OUAZ women's soccer team saw a pair of long streaks come to an end with a 1-0 loss to College of Idaho at Spirit Field.

Along with its current five-game winning streak, OUAZ (6-2) entered the game unbeaten in 16 straight games at home dating back to the 2018 season. The Spirit had also scored a game in 14 consecutive contests entering the game.

The game was evenly played throughout the 90 minutes, with each team having spurts where they dictated the action. The lone goal came in the 65th minute when College of Idaho (4-0) forced a turnover and turned it into a scoring chance. Maddie Smith carried the ball deep into the penalty area, where she crossed to Natasja Davis for the finish on an open net.

OUAZ had a few chances down the stretch but could not get anything on goal. The Spirit's best scoring opportunity came in the 19th minute on an attempt from Grace Green that was just over the top of the crossbar.

The Spirit finished with 10 shots with five on goal. The Yotes had eight of their nine shots finish on target.

Akeala Patterson made seven saves in goal for the Spirit.

OUAZ will be back in action on Thursday when they face Northern Arizona in an exhibition.
