2022 WOMEN'S SOCCER NOTES -- WEEK 2

Following a split in California during the season's opening weekend, the OUAZ women's soccer team is set for three games in Arizona this week. The Spirit opens the week at Embry-Riddle on Tuesday in Prescott. They then host Wayland Baptist in the home opener at Spirit Field on Thursday before welcoming Rocky Mountain on Saturday.

OUAZ will open the busy week with a 1-1 record after defeating Saint Katherine 3-1 and falling to Trinity Christian 2-1 over the weekend.

When the Spirit open the home slate on Thursday, they will do so riding a 14-game unbeaten streak at Spirit Field dating back to the 2019 season. They are 10-0-4 during the run, including a 5-0-3 record at home last season.

The Spirit starts the week averaging 2.00 goals per game while taking 16.5 shots per contest. The team was credited with 22 shots in the season opener at USK.

Four different players have scored the team's four goals. Anabella Bara, Paige Murray-Hernandez, McKenna Payne, and Heather Walker have the Spirit tallies, with assists from Cassidi Calzaretta, Haley Chitwood, and Myah Newton.

Saipress Jones leads the team with seven shot attempts and three on goal. Calzaretta has taken six shots with two on frame.

Kendall Caron is the team leader in minutes played, with 175 anchoring the Spirit backline.

Akeala Patterson leads the Spirit keepers with 135:00 minutes. In that time, she has made seven saves with a 1.33 goals-against-average, and .778 save percentage.

Carli Calzaretta played the first 45 minutes at USK with one goal allowed and two saves in earning the win.
