Softball Game Notes -- Week 11

The OUAZ softball team begins a 12-game road stretch to close the regular season with a trip to southern California. The Spirit visits San Diego Christian on Saturday for a GSAC doubleheader with a chance to clinch a spot in the GSAC Tournament. They will then play four games at Marymount California on April 12-13 in the final non-conference series of the season.

OUAZ begins the stretch of games that runs through April 26 at 25-13 overall, having won 11 of the last 16 games. The Spirit is tied for third in the GSAC with a 9-7 record in conference games. They have gone 6-2 in road games.

The Spirit is hitting .297 while averaging 7.50 hits per game. They are third in the GSAC with a .369 on-base percentage and .419 slugging percentage. OUAZ has 13 games with 10-plus hits while scoring in double digits seven times.

Andraya Rhinehart is batting a team-best .376 with a .953 OPS. She has tallied multiple hits in a game nine times while picking up eight doubles with a homer and 15 RBIs. Rhinehart is sixth in the conference in average and OBP.

Laurynn De Anda is the team leader in runs (24), doubles (10), home runs (4), and RBIs (24). Her 15 extra-base hits are tied for sixth-most in the GSAC. De Anda has 10 games with multiple hits and four with multiple RBIs.

Samantha Miller leads the team with 36 hits, and she carries a .330/.387/.431 slash line. Miller has 10 multi-hit games – including four games with three hits – and she has 23 runs scored and 14 RBIs.

Katelyn Chambers holds a .330 batting average with 32 hits and nine multi-hit games. Mashayla Beltran is batting .307 with 18 RBIs. Breanna Gonzalez is at .293 with 10 extra-base hits, including two home runs and three triples. Charlene De Anda has driven in 19 runs with 20 hits and six doubles.

OUAZ is fourth in the GSAC with its 2.88 ERA while posting a 1.38 WHIP. They are holding the opposition to a .275 batting average while allowing 7.46 hits per seven innings. The staff is fourth in the GSAC by averaging 5.25 strikeouts per seven innings.

Phoebe Popplewell has a team-best 2.48 ERA, where she ranks sixth in the GSAC. Popplewell is 8-4 overall and has won five consecutive decisions while holding the opposition to a .241 batting average.

Alexandra McCutcheon is 13-8 with a 2.77 ERA. She is fourth in the conference with 110 strikeouts and third at 6.23 strikeouts per seven innings. Cori Turner has gone 4-1 with a 4.03 ERA in 40.0 innings.
