Softball Game Notes -- Week 12

The run to the postseason continues this weekend for the OUAZ softball team as the Spirit head to northern California for a pair of GSAC doubleheaders. OUAZ opens the trip at William Jessup on Friday at 2 p.m. in Lincoln, Calif. They will then face Menlo on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Atherton, Calif.

OUAZ takes a 29-15 overall record into the final regular season trip out of Arizona, and they have won three straight and six of eight. The Spirit is currently fourth in the GSAC with a 10-8 record with the possibility of finishing anywhere from second to fifth. They have already clinched a spot in the upcoming GSAC Tournament to be played May 3-5 at the OC Great Park in Irvine, Calif.

The Spirit is hitting .289 while averaging 7.27 hits per game. They are third in the GSAC with a .362 on-base percentage and fourth with a .410 slugging percentage. OUAZ has 13 games with 10-plus hits while scoring in double digits seven times.

Andraya Rhinehart is batting a team-best .330 with a .854 OPS. She has tallied multiple hits in a game nine times while picking up eight doubles with a homer and 16 RBIs. Rhinehart has stolen 14 bases and scored 19 runs.

Laurynn De Anda is the team leader in runs (25), doubles (11), home runs (4), and RBIs (24). Her 17 extra-base hits are tied for sixth-most in the GSAC. De Anda has 10 games with multiple hits and four with multiple RBIs.

Katelyn Chambers leads the Spirit with 37 hits while batting .325 with 12 stolen bases. Chambers is tops on the team with six multi-RBI games for 16 total RBIs, and she has 10 games with multiple hits. 

Samantha Miller holds a .316 batting average with 36 hits and 10 multi-hit games. Mashayla Beltran is batting .295 with 19 RBIs. Breanna Gonzalez is at .292 with 11 extra-base hits, including two home runs and four triples. Charlene De Anda has driven in 19 runs with 21 hits and six doubles.

OUAZ is fourth in the GSAC with its 2.75 ERA while posting a 1.34 WHIP. They are holding the opposition to a .266 batting average while allowing 7.15 hits per seven innings. The staff is fourth in the GSAC by averaging 5.16 strikeouts per seven innings.

Phoebe Popplewell has a team-best 2.47 ERA, where she ranks seventh in the GSAC. Popplewell is 10-5 overall after winning seven of her last eight decision. She averages 4.46 strikeouts per seven innings with a .232 opponent average.

Alexandra McCutcheon is 15-9 with a 2.58 ERA. She is third in the conference with 125 strikeouts and at 6.12 strikeouts per seven innings. Cori Turner has gone 4-1 with a 4.20 ERA in 40.0 innings.
