Men's Volleyball Notes -- Week 7

This week, the OUAZ men's volleyball team has a full slate of matches as the Spirit plays at Faith Arena four times. They begin with a GSAC match against Arizona Christian on Wednesday. A pair of Cal Pac teams visit on Thursday and Friday in Pacific Union and Simpson, respectively. The week concludes with another GSAC match on Saturday against Menlo.

OUAZ starts the week at 16-1 overall and 5-0 in the GSAC. They have won a program-record 11 straight matches, which is the longest active streak in the NAIA. The Spirit is 4-0 at home this season, and they have won 11 straight at Faith Arena dating back to the 2020 season.

The week begins with OUAZ ranking 15th in the NAIA with an average of 12.05 kills per set, and they are third nationally with a .311 attack percentage. The team has hit .300 or better 10 times this season and been above .400 four times. They are 15-0 this season when hitting at least .200 in a match.

OUAZ is also the top blocking team in the country, with an average of 2.77 blocks per set. They lead the GSAC in solo blocks (51), block assists (242), and total blocks (172) while ranking in the top seven in the NAIA in each category. The Spirit has posted 10-plus blocks in a match nine times. The 172 total blocks are already the second-most for a season in program history.

Jordan Moses ranks in the NAIA top 100 in 11 statistical categories. He is 34th in the country in kills per set (3.34), 37th in attack percentage (.276), and 28th in points per set (4.1). Moses has been in double figures in kills 11 times this season and 23 times in his OUAZ career, and he set a career-high with 21 kills in the win over Benedictine Mesa. He also adds 1.86 digs and 0.80 blocks per set while recording four double-doubles.

Emery Outin leads the GSAC and ranks seventh in the country with his .322 attack percentage. He averages 2.65 kills per set, which is good for 66th in the nation, and Outin averages 1.71 digs per set.

The two-headed monster of Colin Donisthorpe and Brenden Hardt spark the Spirit's blocking totals. Donisthorpe leads the GSAC and is third in the NAIA at 1.26 blocks per set. His 67 total blocks are tops in the conference and a new OUAZ single-season record. Hardt is second in the conference and sixth nationally at 1.21 blocks per set.

Tatum Gray averages 2.20 digs per set to rank seventh in the conference and 41st nationally. He has 123 total digs – fourth-most in the GSAC – and has been in double figures six times.

Nicho Calles is 17th in the NAIA by averaging 9.18 assists per set.
