Softball Game Notes -- Week 10

The OUAZ softball team begins the second half of conference play this weekend with its final two home dates of the season. OUAZ starts by hosting Vanguard on Friday with game one at 2 p.m. The Spirit then welcomes Hope International for Senior Day on Saturday at noon.

OUAZ brings a 23-11 overall record into the final home weekend, and they have won nine of the last 12 games played. The Spirit is in a four-way tie for second in the GSAC standings with a 7-5 record in conference games. They are 13-5 at home and have won seven of eight.

The Spirit ranks third in the GSAC with a .304 batting average and .430 slugging percentage while sitting second with a .378 on-base percentage. In picking up 7.79 hits per game, OUAZ is able to score 5.68 runs per game. They have 12 games with 10-plus hits while scoring in double digits seven times.

Laurynn De Anda is the team leader in runs (23), doubles (9), home runs (4), and RBIs (22). Her 14 extra-base hits are tied for sixth-most in the GSAC. De Anda has 10 games with multiple hits and four with multiple RBIs.

Samantha Miller leads the team with 35 hits, and she carries a .337/.389/.442 slash line. Miller has 10 multi-hit games – including four games with three hits – and she has 23 runs scored and 14 RBIs.

Katelyn Chambers holds a .330 batting average with 29 hits and eight multi-hit games. Chambers has driven in 13 runs with a team-best five multi-RBI outings.

Mashayla Beltran is batting .325 with 16 RBIs. Breanna Gonzalez is at .293 with 10 extra-base hits, including two home runs and three triples. Andraya Rhinehart has a .380 batting average with 27 hits, 15 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases. Charlene De Anda has driven in 18 runs.

OUAZ is fourth in the GSAC with its 2.93 ERA while posting a 1.37 WHIP. They are holding the opposition to a .271 batting average while allowing 7.33 hits per seven innings. The staff is third in the GSAC by averaging 5.58 strikeouts per seven innings.

Alexandra McCutcheon leads the Spirit with a 13-6 record and 2.48 ERA. While placing sixth in the conference in ERA, McCutcheon is second in the league in wins and third in strikeouts (108) and innings pitched (115.2).

Phoebe Popplewell has a 7-4 record with a 2.90 ERA. She has a .241 opponent batting average while winning her last three decisions. Cori Turner has gone 3-1 with a 4.59 ERA in 32.0 innings.
