Women's Water Polo Goes 1-1 on Season's Final Day

LOS ANGELES – The season's final day saw the OUAZ women's water polo team split its two games. After falling to Cal Lutheran 16-8 to start the day, OUAZ came back to defeat Occidental 12-5 in the finale.

OUAZ led Cal Lutheran 2-1 midway through the first quarter before allowing six consecutive goals. The Spirit got two goals back before halftime to trail 7-4 at intermission, but the Regals used a 5-0 third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Tori Higginson led the Spirit with three goals while Diana Leivas scored twice. Rachel Hughes added a goal and two assists.

The Spirit would flip the script against Occidental, scoring seven straight and eight of the game's final nine goals to turn a 4-3 deficit into the 12-5 win.

Kylee Wesemann led the attack with four goals, with Hughes, Leivas, and Cierra Crouch each scoring twice. Kelly Rowan made 12 saves.
