Men's Volleyball Notes -- Week 9

The third-ranked OUAZ men's volleyball team closes out the regular season on Friday when they host No. 11 The Master's at 6 p.m. in Faith Arena. The team will honor its senior class during the evening.

OUAZ enters the match at 21-3 on the season, and at 8-1 in conference play, the Spirit can clinch at least a share of the GSAC championship with a win. A win and a Vanguard loss at Menlo would give the Spirit the outright title and host responsibilities for the GSAC Tournament. If they tie with Vanguard, the Lions will host the tournament.

The Spirit sit 12th in the NAIA by averaging 12.38 kills per set while placing third in the country with their .316 attack percentage. The team has hit .300 or better 14 times this season and been above .400 seven times. They are 20-1 when hitting at least .200 in a match.

OUAZ is third in the NAIA, with an average of 2.69 blocks per set. That average leads the GSAC, and they are also the conference leader in block assists (334) and total blocks (229) while ranking in the top three in the NAIA in each category. The Spirit has posted 10-plus blocks in a match 11 times. The 229 total blocks have already set a new program record for blocks in a season.

Jordan Moses ranks in the NAIA top 100 in 10 statistical categories. He is 39th in the country in kills per set (3.24), 31st in attack percentage (.275), and 27th in points per set (4.1). Moses has been in double figures in kills 15 times this season and 27 times in his OUAZ career. He adds 1.66 digs, 0.34 aces, and 0.94 blocks per set while recording four double-doubles.

Emery Outin is third in the GSAC and 16th in the country with his .295 attack percentage. He averages 2.74 kills per set, which is good for 63rd in the nation, and Outin averages 1.61 digs per set.

The two-headed monster of Colin Donisthorpe and Brenden Hardt spark the Spirit's blocking totals. Donisthorpe leads the NAIA by getting 1.36 blocks per set, with his 98 total blocks a new single-season program record. Hardt is second in the conference and ninth nationally at 1.11 blocks per set and is second in program history with 72 total blocks.

Tatum Gray averages 2.13 digs per set to rank sixth in the conference and 47th nationally. He is fourth in the GSAC with 162 total digs while posting double-digits seven times.

Nicho Calles is 23rd in the NAIA by averaging 9.04 assists per set.
