Softball Game Notes -- Week 6

A busy week of games continues for the OUAZ softball team as they head to Tucson to play six games in three days at the Tucson Invitational. OUAZ begins the stretch with a doubleheader against Tabor on Thursday. The Spirit will play Jarvis Christian and Presentation on Friday before closing the week against Aquinas and No. 9 Olivet Nazarene on Saturday.

All of the games will be played at Lincoln Park. Admission is $7 for 13 & older, and no outside food or drink is allowed.

OUAZ will enter the trip with a 10-4 record and looking to snap its first two-game losing streak of the season. They have gone 0-2 at a neutral site this season.

The Spirit is currently second in GSAC in batting average (.323), on-base percentage (.405), and slugging (.478). They are scoring 6.79 runs per game by averaging 8.21 hits per contest. Of their 39 extra-base hits, 29 are doubles with six home runs.

Samantha Miller is batting a team-best .383 with 18 hits, six doubles, and 10 RBIs. She has five multi-hit games, with three of those featuring three hits. Miller has posted two doubles in a game twice this season.

Katelyn Chambers has 15 hits with a .375 batting average. She is tied for the team lead with five stolen bases while scoring 10 runs with a triple and a homer.

Laurynn De Anda is hitting .361 with a 1.001 OPS while leading the team with her .611 slugging percentage. She has hit a pair of home runs and driven in 12 with four multi-hit games.

OUAZ has a 2.60 earned run average in the circle, ranking them second in the GSAC. The Spirit is tied for 15th in the NAIA with three shutouts. They limit the opposition to a .268 batting average while posting 6.53 strikeouts per seven innings.

Alexandra McCutcheon leads the Spirit with a 6-1 record and 1.53 ERA. McCutcheon is fourth in the GSAC in wins, third in strikeouts (53), and eighth in innings pitched (45.2). Her 8.12 strikeouts per game are third in the league.
