Spirit Win at Embry for First 20-Win Season

PRESCOTT, Ariz. – In a year with many firsts, the OUAZ men's basketball team added another on Wednesday with a 96-72 win at Embry-Riddle to notch the first 20-win season in program history.

OUAZ is now 20-8 and riding a seven-game winning streak with one game remaining in the regular season.

The Spirit put Wednesday's game away early as they went on a 20-4 run midway through the first half, turning an 18-16 deficit into a 36-22 lead. Embry-Riddle (2-22) got the game within single digits for one possession a few minutes later before the Spirit cruised the rest of the way.

Josiah De'laCerda scored 24 points on 11 of 15 shooting to lead the Spirit. He also tied Devin Collins for the team lead with seven rebounds. Kolten Hitt added 15 points, and Jerry Johnson made 4 of 5 from beyond the arc for 12 points.

OUAZ shot 46.5 percent overall with 13 made threes. They tallied 18 assists with 10 turnovers and added a 37-29 advantage on the boards.

Trevor Weir scored 20 points to lead the Eagles.

On Saturday, the Spirit plays their final game of the regular season with a trip across town to face No. 7 Arizona Christian at 2 p.m. in Glendale.
