OUAZ Wins at Life Pacific on Late Penalty

SAN DIMAS, Calif. – Needing a win to split its weekend road trip, the 17th-ranked OUAZ men's soccer team rallied with two second-half goals to defeat Life Pacific 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Ortmayer Stadium.

OUAZ (8-3-1, 3-1 GSAC) trailed 1-0 at halftime after Adrian Ochoa scored for Life Pacific (1-11, 0-4) in the 39th minute. That lead held into the 52nd minute when Titouan Desveaux pulled the Spirit level when he finished after being set up by Peyton Montiel-Villegas.

As the game was trending towards a draw despite OUAZ creating several scoring chances, a penalty kick from Tinashe Simbo in the 87th minute proved the difference. Simbo's seventh goal of the season – and first on a penalty – came after Tom Cohen was unsuccessful from the spot in the 84th minute.

OUAZ ended the game with 18 total shots and 11 shots on goal. They also took 13 corner kicks without allowing any to the Warriors.

Desveaux led the team with five shots with three on goal. Simbo attempted four shots, with Cohen and Jamaine Turner taking three each. Adam Salama earned the win in goal with three saves.

The Spirit end the weekend atop the table in the GSAC with nine points. They are back in action on Thursday when they host San Diego Christian at Spirit Field.
