Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Spirit Fall at Hope for First GSAC Loss

IRVINE, Calif. – The 17th-ranked OUAZ men's soccer team dropped its first game of the conference season on Thursday with a 1-0 loss to Hope International at the OC Great Park.

Neither team had many scoring chances in the game, and it took until the 50th minute for either side to break through. That came when a Hope International (7-1-3, 2-0-1 GSAC) shot by Diego Lopez was blocked right back to Giovani Passarelli for a shot from 25 yards that found the net for the game's only goal.

The only shot on goal by OUAZ (7-3-1, 2-1-0) came from Aleem Barclay in the 86th minute, but his attempt from 30 yards was right at the keeper and easily denied. That was the last of the five total shots in the game by the Spirit and just the second of the second half.

Hope was credited with seven total shots, with the goal being the only shot on target. The Spirit had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

OUAZ will look to split the road trip on Saturday when they face Life Pacific at 10:30 a.m. at Ortmayer Stadium at the University of La Verne.
