2022 Women's Soccer Notes -- Week 7

The GSAC season continues this weekend for the OUAZ women's soccer team as the Spirit head to California to face Hope International on Thursday. The lone game of the week for the Spirit will start at 4:30 p.m. at the OC Great Park.

OUAZ heads west with a 7-2-1 overall record and receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll. They are 1-0-1 in GSAC play and tied for first with four points after the first weekend of conference action. The Spirit has gone 4-0-0 in road games and outscored the opposition 13-5.

The Spirit is second in the conference and 45th in the NAIA with 27 goals scored. The team's 23 assists are the most in the GSAC and 31st-most in the nation. OUAZ attempts 14.6 shots per game and puts 58.2 percent of those chances on goal.

OUAZ opponents have scored 12 goals with an average of 10.3 shots per game. The Spirit has totaled 48 saves with a .800 save percentage.

Saipress Jones scored twice against Westmont last week and is now third in the GSAC with seven goals and second with 16 points. Jones has taken 28 shots with 15 on goal while scoring one game-winning goal. Jones enters the week with 37 career goals scored.

Cassidi Calzaretta scored a goal against The Master's and is second on the team with four goals and 11 points. Her three game-winning goals rank second in the GSAC and 13th in the NAIA.

Haley Howard has three goals and two assists to rank third on the team with eight points. She is tied for third with 12 shots and eight on goal.

Haley Chitwood leads the team and the conference with four assists, where she ranks 78th in the NAIA. She has also scored one goal to total six points.

Chloe Gutierrez leads the Spirit with 20 saves, and she is second in the GSAC and 19th in the NAIA with her .870 save percentage. Her season includes four wins and two shutouts.

Carli Calzaretta has played 225 minutes and allowed two goals with 11 saves and one shutout. Akela Patterson has 16 saves with a .696 save percentage in five games and three starts.
