Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Regular Season Ends with 2-0 Loss at ACU

GLENDALE, Ariz. – With a 2-0 loss at Arizona Christian on Friday night in the regular season finale, the OUAZ men's soccer team will now wait for Saturday's games across the conference to determine their fate for the GSAC Tournament.

OUAZ now sits at 10-5-2 overall and with 16 points in GSAC with a 5-3-1 record in conference play. They will be the No. 4 seed in the tournament with a Menlo tie or loss at Westmont on Saturday. If Menlo wins, the Spirit will be the No. 5 seed.

Arizona Christian (10-2-5, 6-1-2) took a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute with a goal from Washington Alves. The Firestorm doubled their advantage in the 58th minute when Aiden Abbitt added the insurance goal.

The Spirit finished with more chances in the game after finishing with a 19-13 advantage in shots. They put eight of those attempts on goal but could not get one past the keeper.

Tinashe Simbo led the Spirit with five shots, with another four coming from Jamaine Turner. Adam Salama made one save in goal.

OUAZ knows it will play a quarterfinal game of the GSAC Tournament on November 5. Should the Spirit earn the No. 4 seed, that game would be played at Spirit Field. If they fall to the No. 5 seed, they will play at either Menlo or Vanguard.
