Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

OUAZ Falls to Vanguard, 3-2

SURPRISE, Ariz. – On a day where rain and lightning impacted the game and even forced a delay at one point, the 24th-ranked OUAZ men's soccer team fell to Vanguard 3-2 at Spirit Field.

OUAZ (9-4-1, 4-2-0 GSAC) found itself trailing 2-0 at halftime after an own goal in the 19th minute and a goal from Joey Barry on a free kick in the 36th minute.

After the game was delayed early in the second half, Titouan Desveaux got the Spirit on the board when he tallied his eighth goal of the season in the 56th minute. Vanguard (5-2-3, 3-1-1) would notch the next goal when Nathaniel Gomez scored in the 70th minute.

The Spirit continued to apply pressure and earned a penalty kick in the 87th minute that Jamaine Turner converted. Still needing one, OUAZ got a final chance in the 89th minute, but the Vanguard keeper stopped the attempt from Gustavo Orocio.

When the final whistle blew, the Spirit had taken 14 shots and put six of them on goal. They also held a 10-3 edge in corner kicks. Desveaux led OUAZ with five shots.

OUAZ will now close the regular season with three consecutive road games. That stretch begins on Thursday in Rocklin, California, against William Jessup.
