Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Rally Falls Short at Master’s

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Trying to rally from a 17-point deficit in the second half, the OUAZ men's basketball team twice tied the game but never got over the top in a 75-68 loss at The Master's on Saturday.

OUAZ (13-8, 4-7 GSAC) trailed 48-31 early in the second half and 60-44 with 9:08 to play. The Spirit then ran off 16 straight points to tie the game at 60-60 with 6:06 on the clock. The deficit was two with 34 seconds to play, but a Spirit turnover ended the comeback attempt as The Master's (13-7, 4-7) went 6 of 6 at the foul line to close out the game.

The Spirit shot 38.2 percent from the floor and hit 10 threes, including six in the second half, to keep them in the game. They were hurt by the Mustangs scoring 38 points in the paint to go with a 38-26 edge on the boards.

Kolten Hitt scored 17 points to lead all players by making 5 of 7 from beyond the arc. Jayce Catchings added 16 points, and Kam Malbrough scored 15 points with six assists.

OUAZ now returns home for its next two games, starting on Thursday at 7 p.m. against No. 18 Hope International.
