Spirit Go Cold in Loss at William Jessup

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Playing a game for the first time in 25 days, the OUAZ women's basketball team went through a long scoring drought in a 65-47 loss at William Jessup on Thursday evening at Warrior Arena.

OUAZ (5-10, 2-6 GSAC) led the game 27-25 at halftime, but the Spirit shot 7 of 28 in the second half as William Jessup (9-11, 4-4) pulled away for the victory. The Spirit was outscored 20-1 during the shooting slump that featured 19 straight misses.

Sedona Anderson scored 13 points to lead the Spirit. She finished 3 of 7 from beyond the arc with two assists. Marlee Johnson added nine points.

The Spirit shot 34.6 percent for the game and had five made threes. They held a 37-34 advantage on the boards with nine points from 10 offensive rebounds. William Jessup shot 43.6 percent, and the Warriors scored 24 points from the 20 OUAZ turnovers.

OUAZ continues its northern California road trip on Saturday when they face Menlo College at 1 p.m. (AZ).
