SPIRIT NOTES
The final push of the regular season for the OUAZ baseball team begins this weekend with a four-game Golden State Athletic Conference series against The Master's. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday in Surprise Stadium starting at 3 p.m. They will then play a second doubleheader on Saturday that starts at 2 p.m. Game one on Saturday is on Rangers Field 3 with game two on Royals Field 6.

OUAZ enters the home set with a 17-16 overall record and 7-3 in its last 10 games played. They are 8-8 at home this season – 3-2 in Surprise Stadium – and the Spirit have played just three home games since February 27.

The Spirit went 3-1 in each of the first two conference series they played and currently leads the East Division with a 6-2 record. OUAZ holds a three-game lead over both The Master's and Arizona Christian with eight conference games remaining.

SERIES NOTES
OUAZ leads the all-time series with TMU 7-5, including a 6-2 record this season. The Spirit won a non-conference series over the Mustangs 3-1 in Surprise in late February in the only home games played in the series.

AT THE PLATE
OUAZ has been riding a hot stretch at the plate over the past 12 games and raised its team batting average 22 points to .310 entering the weekend. That has the Spirit ranked fourth in the GSAC and 43rd in the country in the category. OUAZ has 17 games this season with 10-plus hits with eight of those coming in the past 12 games played. The team ranks 28th in the NAIA by averaging 10.15 hits per game.

That offensive output has translated to the team scoring 6.64 runs per game. They have scored in double figures nine times with five of those coming over the last 12 games. OUAZ is 36th nationally with 65 doubles and 31st with 10 triples.

Adrian Salazar leads the team with 44 hits and his .349 batting average is second on the team among qualifiers. He also has a team-leading 25 runs batted in while posting 10 doubles. Salazar is riding a 12-game hitting streak – his third career hitting streak of 10-plus games – during which he has gone 19 of 49 (.388).

Salazar is the OUAZ all-time leader with 186 hits and 92 RBIs.

Elijah Celaya leads all OUAZ qualifiers with a .353 batting average and .975 OPS. He has 11 extra-base hits and 15 RBIs to go along with a team-best 21 walks. Celaya is third on the team with 10 multi-hit games while adding five outfield assists.

Jordan Hollins has been on a tear since conference play began, going 17 of 34 (.500) with 10 runs scored, seven doubles, two triples, and nine RBI in those 10 games. The streak raised his season batting average by nearly 100 points to .344 and gives him 10 doubles and 15 RBI for the season.

Jared Crockett hasn't played enough games to qualify for the conference rankings, but he leads the Spirit with a .410 batting average while recording 34 hits and scoring 17 runs.

ON THE MOUND
OUAZ has been in a rhythm on the mound during this 12-game run and lowered the team ERA to 4.91 to rank second in the GSAC. The staff maintains a 1.47 WHIP and its 250 strikeouts rank 46th in the NAIA. The opponents batting average of .268 is third in the conference.

Gage Johnson has been stellar on the hill this season with a perfect 6-0 record and a GSAC-leading 1.99 ERA which ranks 26th in the NAIA. The six wins rank 11th in the NAIA and his 54.1 innings pitched is 23rd in the country. His six straight decisions won is a program record and he is tied for the team lead with three complete games. Johnson is one win shy of tying the program record for wins in a season.

Anthony Quattrocchi has been just as dominant for the Spirit with a 5-1 record and 2.63 ERA. He has won his last five decisions with three complete games. Quattrocchi is second in the GSAC with an OUAZ single-season record of 60 strikeouts. He has a pair of 10-plus strikeout games, including a school-record 11 at Jarvis Christian on March 9.  Quattrocchi is 21st in the NAIA with 54.2 innings pitched and 34th with a .193 opponents batting average. He also is 42nd in wins and 45th in hits allowed per nine innings at 6.59.

Tanner Fallon carries a 2-2 record and 5.40 ERA into the weekend. He is tied for second in the team with 14 appearances and in 36.2 innings pitched has a .252 opponent batting average and 31 strikeouts.
