Spirit Continue Postseason Push with Trip to Jessup

With four matches remaining in the regular season, the OUAZ women's volleyball team will head to Rocklin, California to play a pair of matches at William Jessup this week. The teams will open its series on Tuesday at 7 p.m. (AZ) before a Wednesday match at 2 p.m. (AZ).
 
Both of the matches will be played at Warrior Arena on the William Jessup campus.
 
SPECTATOR POLICY
At this time, William Jessup is not allowing spectators at their home athletic events.

Both matches will be produced by WJU and broadcast live on the OUAZ Digital Network. Fans can view the game online at OUAZSpirit.com/digital or on the NAIA Network app on Android TV, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku devices.

ABOUT THE SPIRIT
OUAZ makes the trip to northern California with a 7-4 overall record and splitting two matches against The Master's last week at Faith Arena. The Spirit are leading the GSAC East Division with a 5-1 record in conference play. They have gone 4-2 on the road.
 
The Spirit will hit the road ranked 26th in the NAIA by averaging 12.93 kills per set and they are hitting .166. OUAZ is 18th in the nation at 12.24 assists per set while currently averaging 1.64 service aces per set.
 
The national rankings have OUAZ 19th in digs per set at 19.67 and 48th in blocks per set with a 1.95 average.
 
OUAZ LEADERS
Kate Pestova leads the Spirit with 165 kills and she has been in double figures in all 11 matches the team has played. Her 3.93 kills per set leads the GSAC and ranks 17th in the NAIA. Pestova has also recorded seven matches with double-digit digs and she averages 3.12 digs per set.
 
Cristal Carrizoza has a team-best 223 assists and averages 5.31 assists per set. Sierra Dominguez has tallied 218 assists at a 5.19 assists per set rate to sit ninth in the conference.
 
Carrizoza also is the team leader in service aces with 15. At 0.36 aces per set, Carrizoza ranks 12th in the GSAC.
 
Valentina Trovato leads the team with her 227 digs and she has been in double figures in digs nine times this season. Trovato has 20-plus digs in each of the last four matches played and seven times this year, including twice going for 30-plus. Her 5.54 digs per set is third in the GSAC and 28th in the NAIA.
 
Chelsea Taylor is up to a team-high 45 total blocks and she has recorded multiple blocks in each of the last six matches played. Taylor leads the conference and is 35th in the country with an average of 1.07 blocks per set.
 
SERIES NOTES
OUAZ is 1-3 all-time against William Jessup with all four matches coming since the Spirit joined the GSAC. The Spirit lost both meetings in the 2019 season and they are winless in two chances in Rocklin. Two of the four meeting shave gone five sets (1-1) with one finishing in three (0-1) and another in four sets (0-1).
